AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE

Do you want to know: is there Uber in Mykonos?

Are you planning a trip to the beautiful island of Mykonos? If so, then you no doubt have some questions about how to get around. One key question will be: is there Uber in Mykonos Greece, at this time?

The good news is that Uber will indeed be there – but with some limitations. In this post, we’ll look at exactly what type of service is offered by Uber in Mykonos.

There are several different ways for you to navigate yourself around this stunning Greek paradise while keeping your budget and style in mind! We’ll go over all the options here, from traditional taxis to rental car services. With all these options available, getting from A to B won’t be a problem during your stay in Mykonos!

Let’s dive in.

Is There Uber In Mykonos?

Uber in Mykonos is serviced by standard taxi drivers.

Does Uber work in Mykonos? Yes, you can use Uber for transportation in Mykonos, but there are some restrictions.

UberX, which is the core service of Uber, is not operating in Mykonos. UberX allows amateur drivers easily sign up with Uber, and as a result, the ride services provided by them are way cheaper than taxis.

In Mykonos, only local taxi drivers that own a licence can use the Uber app and provide services to the public. Therefore, the prices you can expect to pay when using Uber in Mykonos are similar to regular taxi prices. And, from our recent experience, Uber is actually more expensive than hailing a taxi on the street.

Overall, while Uber in Mykonos may not be as affordable as other locations, it still serves as a reliable option for transportation.

How Much Does An Uber On Mykonos Cost?

If you're staying in Mykonos Old Town, you can order an Uber in Mykonos.

As mentioned previously, Uber rides in Mykonos are similar to or a little more expensive than the regular taxi since they are serviced by licenced taxi drivers. Here are some of the prices you can expect to find on your Mykonos Uber App:

Mykonos Airport to Mykonos Old Town €42 – €50

Mykonos New Port to Mykonos Old Town €38 – €40

Mykonos Old Town to Paradise Beach €38 – €40

In comparison, my partner paid €20 for a taxi from Mykonos Airport to the hotel located in the old town. I arrived in Mykonos earlier by myself, and since I was carrying 2 large suitcases and hand luggage (don’t judge me, after Mykonos, we were travelling to Bali for 6 months 😅 ), we arranged a taxi with the hotel for me, which cost €30. I travelled from Mykonos New Port to a hotel in the old town.

TIP: If you’re staying in one of the hotels located in the old town, you will have to walk to the entrance of your hotel from the main street, even if you’re arriving by taxi. Definitely pack light because the streets of Mykonos are super uneven, and there are lots of stairs.

Also, arriving by taxi vs by bus or sea bus may not make any difference in terms of convenience, since you’ll still have to walk. So if you’re on a budget, taking a taxi is not really worth your money, in my opinion.

Local Taxis Vs Uber Mykonos

Uber in Mykonos

As with any transportation option, there are certainly pros and cons to consider when using Uber Taxi Mykonos vs hailing a standard taxi.

One of the major advantages of taking Uber over taxis is the trip estimate feature because it lets users know the cost of their ride before they board the car.

It is reassuring for solo travellers to have access to information about the car’s registration, type, and colour, as this provides added security. Additionally, it is useful to be able to read reviews from other customers, which can help protect you from unwanted interactions and bad experiences.

Another major advantage is that you can pay through the app, meaning you don’t have to carry enough cash with you or bargain for the fare.

However, it’s important to note that ordering an Uber vs hailing a standard taxi in Mykonos may work out a little more expensive.

To get from the airport to your hotel, you can opt for either a bus, taxi or private Mykonos airport transfer service. Most people prefer taxis because they don’t require any advanced planning and are relatively inexpensive. Also, it’s often faster than taking a bus as there is no wait time.

On the other hand, private transfers from Mykonos Airport to your accommodation are more convenient. You can book one in advance, and they usually have a fixed cost, so you know exactly how much you’ll be paying. If you’re travelling with friends or family, this is often the most cost-effective option.

If you’re on a budget, you can also catch a bus to the old town of Mykonos.
