We stayed in Athens for two weeks and did many different tours to share our experience with you guys, and hands down, the Dinner in the Sky in Athens was by far the best activity. I’d even say that Athens is worth visiting, for that experience alone!

Who is Dinner in the Sky restaurant Athens not suitable for?

• People with a fear of heights – We don’t recommend this experience for anyone whose fear of heights is very extreme. If you’re only scared a little, then you will still enjoy it.

• People with bladder conditions – If you suffer from a medical condition and you’re not able to hold pee for 90 minutes. Once the table is up, the toilet is not available.

• Children with height under 120 cm – Although the experience is not age-restricted, there is a minimum height required related to security. Also, from our experience, fine dining may not be something young kids will really enjoy.

How Does Dinner In The Sky Work?

Dinner is the Sky concept was launched in Brussels in 2006 and now can be enjoyed in over 60 countries. The Dinner in the Sky Athens operates since 2015, and when I found out, I couldn’t believe I haven’t heard about it sooner!

Are you wondering what is dinner in the sky?

So, this fine dining concept includes a 6-course menu with free-flowing wine enjoyed from a large table suspended at 40 meters above the ground on a large crane. Up to 22 guests can attend each event and are accompanied by chefs and staff members. You will be asked to leave your belongings in the lockers, and you will get buckled up to the seat for safety.

Each dinner lasts around 90 minutes, so don’t worry; you will be okay without a toilet during that time!

From above, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the Athens skyline, including the Acropolis hills. The table gently turns so each guest has an equal opportunity to take some epic shots.

How Much Does Dinner In The Sky Cost In Athens?

Dinner in the Sky Athens price starts from €155 for the 5/5:30 pm or the nighttime 9:30 pm time slot, while the sunset slot is a little more pricey and costs €175. The available time slots vary depending on the season, and the night slot is only available during the summer.

Whichever time you choose, you will have an unforgettable experience. We did the 5:30 pm in May, and it was epic! As a photographer, I loved the golden light just before sunset, which is ideal for taking photos.

Restaurant In The Sky Athens: Location

Dinner is the Sky Athens is located in the Technopolis City of Athens. This area used to be an industrial gasworks place that has been converted into a cultural hub. Today, Technopolis is home to galleries and various cultural events and concerts.

The nearest Metro Station to Technopolis is KERAMEIKOS, which is only one stop from Monastiraki. A single metro ticket costs €1.20 per person.

Another way to get to the Dinner in the Sky Athens is with UBER, and depending on where you’re staying, the trip will cost around €8-€10 from Plaka/Monastiraki area and €20 from other areas.

We actually just walked from Plaka, which took around 20 minutes. The route is pedestrianised and took us through Monastiraki Flea Market and passed the Ancient Agora, which was very pleasant.

As soon you arrive, you start with a welcome drink of your choice, which includes a glass of wine, a beer or a cocktail accompanied by a selection of salty nibbles.

At Dinner in the Sky Athens, you can enjoy a delicious 6-course meal prepared by professional chefs. The menu varies depending on the season and includes starters such as chilled salmon tartare, shrimp saganaki or grilled artichoke salad; main courses like tender steak with truffle mashed potatoes, seared sea bream, and rocket risotto; and desserts such as chocolate tart or crème brulee.

The restaurant also caters for different dietary requirements, such as a pescatarian or vegetarian diet and also can cater for your personal needs if you have any food allergies. You need to let them know before the event.

Dinner In The Sky In Athens Greece: Our Experience

We stayed in Athens for 2 weeks and did a lot of tours, but Dinner in the Sky really stand out for us. We enjoyed every minute of it. From the welcome drink (we wished we arrived a little earlier to enjoy it more) to every bite of each course.

Each dish was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. Our friendly waiter took photos of us, laughed with us, and ensured our glasses were never empty.

The views were breathtaking, and the sunset was stunning. Everyone at our table had a blast! We even got to meet the chefs who prepared our meals; it was great to hear their stories and know what each dish was about.

Overall, Dinner in the Sky Athens surpassed all of our expectations, and we will definitely be back on our next trip to Athens.

It is totally worth it! It’s an amazing and very unique activity that is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. On top of that, it’s a great way to spend an evening with friends or loved ones and a great way to celebrate something special like a birthday or anniversary.

What do you wear to Dinner in the Sky Athens?

You can wear whatever you feel like, but because it’s a fine dining experience, we recommend dressing up a little for your Athens Greece Dinner in the Sky event. The official dress code is smart casual. In terms of shoes, avoid wearing loosely fitted flip-flops, which you may lose during the dinner.

It may be a little windy at times, but it’s unlikely to be cold. We did ours in May and felt that the air temperature was similar to the one on the ground. But, if you’re worried, you can take a light jacket with you.

What if you have to go to the bathroom during Dinner in the Sky?

You will be asked to visit the bathroom before your Athens Sky dinner starts. Then, you will spend about 90 minutes suspended on the crane without a toilet option. If you suffer from a condition that requires you to go to the bathroom more often, then unfortunately, this experience is not for you.

What can I take up with me?

You will receive a locker where you can leave all the belongings that you won’t need during your Dinner in the Sky Greece experience. You will, however, be allowed to take your phone and camera with you. Bags and purses, even small ones, are not permitted during the flight.

What time should I arrive for my dinner?

You should arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time, but we recommend leaving sooner to make sure you have enough time to find the location. Dinner in the Sky Athens is located in Technopolis, and you may need a few extra minutes to get to the location. Also, leave yourself between 30 and 20 minutes to enjoy the welcome drink!

What is the cancellation policy?

We always book our tours with Viator wherever we travel. Viator offers the cheapest rates and a generous cancellation policy – up to 24 hours before the date of the activity. Also, upon booking, you can choose to pay later, closer to the time of your trip.
