Adamas Milos, also known as Adamantas, is one of the most popular areas on Milos. If you don’t want to spend too long on researching where to stay on Milos, stay in Adamas. Adamas is the best place to stay in Milos for convenience and nightlife.

Playfully named, a small fishing village on Milos – Firopotamos is situated in Milos’ remote, northern part. I say remote, but really if you wanted to walk from Plaka, it would take around 40 minutes which is not bad at all.

Paleochori Beach is situated a 15 minutes drive southeast of Adamas Port, and it’s very well connected by the local bus services that run few times a day during the summer season. Tsigrado Beach is 25 minutes drive west of Paliachori Beach.
Paleochori or Paliachori is the most colourful beach on Milos with red and pink rocks, golden sand and contrasting turquoise, crystal clear water. The beach is also one of the calmest because it is shielded from the wind. It stretches for a few kilometres, and it is considered one of the best beaches in Milos.
There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols to rent out for the day and a range of beach restaurants and bars serving delicious food and drinks until the sunset.
Paleochori gets very quiet at night, so if you rather stay somewhere with a vibrant nightlife, choose Adamas instead.
Finally, this area of Milos has a good selection of accommodation from luxury hotels to budget stays.
Fun Fact: Paliachori was the site of the discovery of the Milos Hoard, a collection of Milian coins now on exhibit at the London Numismatic Museum.

Milos is a Greek island situated on the Aegean Sea. It belongs to a group of islands called the Cyclades. How to get to Milos, Greece?
From Athens to Milos
There are two ways of getting to Milos from Athens – you can take a ferry or fly.
Ferries leave in the morning from Piraeus Ferry Port in Athens. Various companies operate on this lane, and there are two types of ferries – fast that will get you to Milos in 2.5 to 4 hours and slow that take around 7 hours but are considerably cheaper. I use Direct Ferries to book my ferries in Europe.
You can also fly to Milos from Athens. A few low fair flights operators exist between the Greek capital and Milos, including Olympic Air and Sky Express. You can check flights on Skyscanner.
Ferry Santorini Milos
Ferries Santorini to Milos leave three times a day from Thira and take from 2 to 5.5 hours. If you want to save money, take the longest one, which is always the cheapest.

Ferry Crete to Milos
It is also possible to catch a direct ferry from Crete to Milos. The journey takes about 3.5 hours but check the schedule as ferries to Milos don’t operate that often.
Getting around Milos
Milos main towns such as Adamas, Pollonia, Plaka and even Paliochori are well connected by bus services. If you don’t want to drive or want to save some money, this is a great way to explore the island. Check Milos Buses schedule here. The only thing to keep in mind is that there will be fewer connections if you’re visiting off-season.
Car Rental Milos
Another popular way to get around Milos is car hire. Milos is a large island, and having a car will give you a lot of freedom to explore even the lesser frequented off-beaten track places. Hiring a car is great if you travel in a group and can spread the cost between a few people.
ATV Rental Milos
Hiring an ATV is another popular way to explore the island. Many of the roads in Milos are unpaved, which is perfect for an ATV, plus driving it can be a lot of fun. You can hire one when you get to Milos. Prices will be higher at high season July and August and considerably lower outside of that time. Expect to pay between €15 to €40 per day.
Having a travel insurance was always important, but nowadays it’s a total must-have. Book with a reliable provider that will be there for you if you need it. I recommend World Nomads.
