Naoussa Paros Beaches

Piperi Beach Paros

Naoussa Piperi Beach

If you take a 5-minute walk from the Naoussa marina, you’ll find Piperi Beach Naoussa which is the town’s beach. The beach is framed by interesting rock formations from both sides that provide shelter from the wind. Piperi Beach is covered with a mixture of sand and pebbles and you can rent a parasol and sun loungers from the nearby hotels that also provide drink service. Piperi Paros is a great beach for a quick swim as it is super convenient if you’re staying in one of the Naoussa Paros hotels. There is a nice restaurant – Deck, with a lovely seating area overlooking the beach which is perfect for a drink at sunset. However, there are much better Paros beaches Naoussa is famous for. Check out the next sections for more details!

Santa Maria Beach Paros

Santa Maria Beach Naoussa

Santa Maria Paros is located 5 km east of Naoussa or about an 11 minutes drive. This Naoussa beach has a golden, powdery sound and shallow, calm waters with a tantalising turquoise shade. The beach is large with plenty of space to stretch your own towel with a few trees providing shade.

Santa Maria Beach Naoussa

Santa Maria Beach Naoussa
Santa Maria’s golden sand

Further down the beach, you can find plenty of sun chairs and umbrellas to rent out, the prices range from €20 to €40 per day, which is not cheap. There are also a few places to get some snacks and a drink. There used to be Santa Maria Beach Bar, which was pretty famous for its party vibe and great cocktails, but it was closed when I visited in September and according to Google maps, it’s been permanently closed down. But, hopefully, the beach bar will reopen soon.

Santa Maria Beach Naoussa

Apart from soaking up the sun and swimming in the azure water, you can also rent a kayak or a standup paddleboard to explore the shore and get some physical activity done. There is a large free off-road  car park space in front of the beach, where you can leave your vehicle

Location |  Santa Maria Naoussa

Monastiri Beach Paros

Monastiri Beach Paros

Paros Monastiri Beach is situated 15 minutes drive (7 km) from Naoussa town and it is by far my favourite Naoussa Paros Beach! The drive to this beach is super scenic and an adventure in its own right! This Naoussa beach Paros takes its name from a nearby Monastery of St John’s of Deti. The monastery is very picturesque with its whitewashed walls and if you climb its hill, you get some stunning panoramic vistas of the small cove Paros, where Monastiri Beach is tucked away.

Monastiri Beach Paros

The beach has a unique, almost red shade of sand and it contrasts with the azure sea providing a delightful scene to look at! The water is also very shallow here and you need to walk in for a little while before it gets deep enough to swim. On the right side of the beach, there is a cute jetty where you can rent out SUP paddleboards and kayaks.

The beach has plenty of sun loungers and parasols for rent as well as free space to stretch your own towel. Expect to pay around €20 per set. At the back, trees provide some shade for those that prefer to stay away from the midday sun. There is also a restaurant if you get hungry serving tasty wood burning oven pizzas and sandwiches.

You can drive here by car or scooter or take a boat that leaves from Naoussa harbour.

Kolimbithres Beach Paros

Kolimbithres Beach Paros-

Kolimbithres is easily one of the most beautiful beaches Paros is famous for! You can get to this beach Naoussa Paros by a water taxi that leaves regularly from Naoussa Port or drive to it in your own vehicle, which will take only around 10 minutes. There is also a bus that can bring you here from Paros Naoussa.

Kolimbithres Beach is divided into small bays with white sand and it’s famous for its smooth granite rocks that have been shaped by the wind and seawater throughout the centuries. The beach has sunbeds and umbrellas available to rent and a few tavernas serving light snacks and cold drinks. Kayaks and standup paddleboards are also available for rent for water sports enthusiasts. If you’re visiting during the peak season in July or August, this beach may get a little overcrowded due to its super easy access via bus or water taxi. If you still would like to visit, I recommend coming here in the morning. For a little less crowded Paros beach, choose Lageri Beach.

Location | Kolimbithres Beach

Lageri Beach Paros

Lageri Beach Paros
Lageri Beach
Lageri Beach Paros
Lageri Beach

Lageri is one of the quieter beaches in Naoussa Paros. It is a sandy beach in a quiet alcove with crystal clear azure water. In my opinion, Lageri beach Naoussa is not as special as Monastiri or Santa Maria beaches, but if you value peace and quiet above all, this could be a beach for you. There is also a nudist part of the beach in the southern part of the beach.

Lageri Beach is super quiet and this is perhaps because it is difficult to get to! A large part of the road to get to the beach is off-road and you will need an ATV or a 4×4 car to get there. I visited Lageri Paros on a scooter and I had to leave it a fair distance away from the beach and walk the last stretch, which turned out to be a long long hike in the scorching heat. While the hike is entirely possible, it is not something I would recommend.

What to do in Naoussa Paros Greece?

#1 Visit the Picturesque Marina

Naoussa Marina

Start your exploring in the charming port Naoussa is renowned for! The marina is super beautiful and perfect to enjoy a sunset drink or a seafood meal in one of the restaurants that feature a waterfront seating area. Colourful small fishing boats moor by its shore and you can watch fishermen working on their boats early in the morning. The water of the Aegean Sea is super clear and you can even see small fish swimming in it!

#2 Explore Naoussa Venetian Castle

Naoussa Paros
The half-sunken Venetian Castle of Naoussa

As you stroll along the Naoussa harbour, you will find the ruins of the Venetian fortress built between the 13th and 14th centuries. The fort was constructed to protect the island of Paros Greece from the pirates and Turks that often were invading the Greek islands.

Today, the fortress is half-sunken in the azure water of the Aegean Sea but when you look at it you can imagine how great it was in the past. You can get to it by walking along the narrow concrete jetty that leads to the ruins. The best-preserved part of the castle is one of its circular towers, where you can even go inside to take a closer look.

The Venetian Castle is a must-see place when visiting Naoussa Paros. Even if you’re not big on history, from the castle you can get a gorgeous view of the Naoussa seafront and a couple of excellent opportunities to take some cool shots!

#3 Take a morning stroll and stop for breakfast at Sousouro

Naoussa Restaurants
Avo on toast at Sousouro
Old Town Naoussa

The best way to enjoy Naousa Paros is waking up early in the morning and getting lost in its narrow whitewashed alleys when not many people are around! This is my favourite way of exploring a town, especially when it’s a popular one. If you enjoy photography, get your camera ready to take some mood shots to truly reflect the Cycladic vibe. At the end of your ‘project morning’, have a delicious breakfast at Sousouro. Sit on the cosy bench outside and just relax while sipping coffee or even better, a green smoothie!

Location | Sousouro Naoussa

#4 Visit Faneromeni Church

A visit to Naoussa Paros would not be complete without exploring its more prominent landmark – Faneromeni Church. The church is perched on a hill and can be seen from every corner of town including the marina. It has two bell towers, white walls with two blue domes and red-painted doors. Don’t forget to take a look inside its airy and bright interior with crystal chandeliers and marble floor.

#5 Go Naoussa Shopping

A boutique in Naoussa

If you need some retail therapy, Naoussa Paros is the perfect place for it! Its old town whitewashed alleys are littered with designer boutiques and chic shops selling fashion accessories, unique home decor items and organic homemade local produce including locally produced Naoussa wines. The Naoussa shopping scene is really excellent if you have the budget for it! There were a few shops that I particularly loved selling women linen clothes and pieces that will never go out of fashion! If you are a slow fashion enthusiast, you’ll definitely find something here.

#6 A Tour of Naoussa with Photography Workshop

Cuteness everywhere

For the photography enthusiasts, a great activity to do in Paros Naoussa is a photography workshop combined with a walking tour of Naoussa. The town of Naousa is one of the most delightful places I have seen on the Cycladic islands, packed with picture-perfect places. And, there is no better way of enjoying and appreciating its beauty than in a companion of other keen photographers!

#7 Visit Naoussa Winery

This Paros winery has a long tradition of cultivating grapes in the Naoussa wine region and making its own high-quality Paros Moraitis wine. You can pre book your tour of the winery and wine tasting on their website. The winery produces a wide selection of excellent wine ranging from dry to sweet white wine and red wine. Moraitis winery is located close to Agioi Anargyroi Beach and only 1 km away from Naoussa town, so you can walk there or take a taxi!

Opening Hours | Monday to Saturday 12:00 to 20:00

Location | Moraitis Winery Paros

#8 Visit Petra Farm

Petra Shop in Naousa Paros

Another excellent idea for a day trip from Naoussa is a visit to Petra Farm that is situated 5 km west of Naoussa village, near Kolimbithres Beach. Petra Farm is renowned for its sustainable practises and eco-farming They specialise in cultivating figs, olives, capers, oregano and lavender. They also run customised tours for couples, families as well as larger groups where you can see the farm that boasts some impressive views over the coast and tastes their products including the organic wine! If you’re visiting with children, they will be able to pick fruit and feed the chickens.

Tour times |  11:00 or 17:00 in the summer

Tour price | from €35 per person

Location | Petra Farm

#9 Have a drink at Barbarossa Paros

Naoussa Paros Restaurants
Barbarossa Bar
Naoussa Paros Restaurants

To fully appreciate what Naousa has to offer, have a cocktail at one of its lively bars! Barbarossa is located at the end of the pier and it’s one of the best bars in Naoussa Paros with a lively ambience, fancy cocktails and superb food! The best time to have a drink is at sunset time, of course! The bar gets very busy at that time and during the high season, you may need to book ahead to avoid disappointment. If you stay for dinner, you won’t be disappointed either! Try lobster pasta or mushroom risotto which are both to die for!

Location | Barbarossa Naoussa

#10 Take a Naoussa Boat Trip

Naoussa Boat Pier

A fun way of exploring the nearby beaches Naoussa Paros is taking a water taxi from Naoussa port. In season, there are multiple fairs during the day that can take you to Manastiri Beach, Kolymbithres, Lageri and more remote – Torkou Ammos Beach. Taking a boat to one of the local beaches is a great alternative to driving, especially if you’re planning to have a few beers or cocktails! The schedule and tickets are available from the tourist marina, I’m leaving the link to the marina location below.

Naoussa has definitely the best nightlife scene on the entire island! During the months of July and August, its harbour area and the whitewashed alleys of the old town are buzzing with outdoor restaurants and cute bars set in sugar cube-like buildings where eager crowds celebrate until late. If you want some great nightlife and are wondering whether to stay in Naoussa or Parikia, definitely choose Naoussa!

Lefkes is located a 15-minute drive south of Naoussa. It is a quaint town in the mountains with a super picturesque old town and a local, authentic vibe.

What’s the best time to visit Naoussa Greece?

Paros Naoussa

If you’re not staying in Paros Naoussa, there are two best times to visit this gorgeous, cosmopolitan village. If you want to savour the beauty of its architecture and take some beautiful photos, arrive in the late morning, when the whitewashed alleys of the old town are not too busy. For the best dining experience in the picturesque Naoussa marina, visit in the later afternoon and stay for the sunset.

How to get from Paros Port to Naoussa?

Drone shot of Naousa Paros

Car Rental Naoussa Paros

The most convenient way of getting to Naoussa Paros is renting a car. Car hire shops are widely available on the island. You can get a car as soon as you arrive by ferry in Parikia and drive to Naoussa which shouldn’t take more than 15  minutes. Having your own vehicle will be also super handy if you’re planning on exploring the island.

You can also prearrange car hire online with the car pick up at the ferry terminal in Parikia, which is an extremely convenient option and will spare you having to shop around for a reputable car hire Paros shop. Booking your car online is also a wise move if you’re visiting Paros during the peak months of July and August.

I usually use DiscoverCars to search for the best car rental option and always opt-in for the full insurance cover to save myself unpleasantries such as paying an excess fee for damages.

Another way to get to Naoussa is by taking one of the Paros buses. Paros has excellent public transport with buses Paros frequently running between most popular tourist destinations.

If you’re planning to use buses in Paros instead of a car to explore the island, staying in  Naoussa or Parikia will be the most convenient as both towns have the best bus connections. It is also worth remembering that buses are way less frequent off-season.

Another way of getting from Parikia ferry port to Naoussa is catching a taxi. This is obviously the most expensive way of getting to Paros Naousa as taxi drivers seem to always charge foreign visitors a premium for their services. However, if you decide to use taxis, make sure you agree on the price before getting into the car or ensure the taxi metre is switched on.

ATV Rental Paros

Riding an ATV vehicle is also a popular form of exploring the island. ATVs are easy and fun to drive, and they are good at riding off-road. The downside of renting an ATV is they are almost as expensive as car rental Paros and may be unpleasant to drive in windy conditions.

How to get to Paros?

Flights to Paros

A convenient way to get to Paros is to take an Athens to Paros flight. Paros airport is situated 10 km south of its ferry port and town – Parikia. It’s a super small airport that mostly serves Athens to Paros flights.

A few airlines fly to Airport Paros, including Aegean, Sky Express, and Olympic. Use a flights comparison website such as KAYAK to search for the cheapest flight to Paros.

Paros Ferries

Milos ferry

The most common way of getting to Paros is taking a ferry either from Athens or, if you’re island hopping in the Cyclades, from another island. Several companies service the route between the Cycladic islands in Greece: Seajets, Blue Star, and Aegean Speed Lines.

If you want to save some money on the ferries that can be costly, especially if you’re island hopping, I recommend booking your fares way in advance. I always use Ferry Scanner to look for the best tickets. If you’re planning your trip to Paros at peak season, booking your ferry in advance makes even more sense, especially if you’re not very flexible on dates. If you book online, Ferry Scanner offers an extended free cancellation period in case your plans change.

When searching for tickets, you will also notice that slower ferries can be a lot cheaper, so if you don’t mind a 2-3 hours longer trip, booking a slower ferry can be a good way of saving some money.

Travelling on ferries is an experience in its own right! Remember to arrive early as the boarding process and loading the vehicles is swift, and boats don’t wait around and usually leave on time. Also, always check ahead of time if your ferry is scheduled to go on time. Ferry services rely on good sea conditions, and cancellations are common, especially in September and October when there are more chances of strong winds.

Ferry Athens to Paros

Athens to Paros ferry is the most popular route and the most frequent service. Ferries Athens to Paros leaves multiple times a day from Piraeus or Rafina ports to Parikia. Depending on the ferry, the journey takes anything from 3 to 5 hours. For ferry schedules and prices, check Ferry Scanner

Ferry Mykonos to Paros

A ferry Mykonos Paros is another popular route with multiple ferries scheduled daily. The trip takes from 45 minutes to over an hour, and during summer holidays, ferries get booked out quickly, so consider booking online if you’re travelling during that time.

Ferries Santorini to Paros

The same applies to the ferry Santorini Paros. The journey takes 2 to 5 hours, and online booking is recommended for travels between July and August.

Ferry Naxos to Paros

Naxos is another superb island worth visiting if you like gorgeous beaches! Ferries Naxos to Paros frequently leave during the day and the journey time is super short – between 30 and 50 minutes.

Crete to Paros Ferry

If you’re looking for how to get to Paros from Crete, there is a ferry operated by Seajets that leaves from Heraklion to Parikia once a day with a journey time of 5.5 hours.

Ferry Sifnos to Paros
